Small dogs, big joys!!!

I have always said we all need to be needed, and I am proving that to myself yet again! After moving the Mom here from Kansas last September I have been wanting to get her a little dog to spend her time with!(of course I really want one for myself...)(which, anyone who knows me, understands)But life is a funny thing to control, you know? So her first Christmas here was spent on a cruise with all the family except Peter and I, as we couldn't get away for that length of time, and she hadn't been feeling too good just before the cruise!

New Year again!!!

Wow; this really did fly by! We have already taken down the christmas( always a little depressing) and are gearing up for the list of projects for the off season! We are having such a mild winter compared to the past few years that it is amazing! into the 60's right now! On the list of too doos are carpeting the staircase, redoing the Ivy bath and a major organizing of the attic and basement! Well gotta run, my Mom is not feeling too well so I am making my way over to sit with her a while! It is so nice to be able to do this after all these years!

Merry Christmas!

Every year I end up being such an overachiever that I exhaust myself for the holiday! This year I wanted to spend the holiday with my Mom as she had just moved here from Kansas. That did not go as I planned as my brother and sister decided to take her on a cruise through the Carribbean.I was a little upset until I realized that the thought of being trapped at sea with a large group of people was a very un-exciting prospect....It is time now to wish all a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year! May all our wishes come true!

Restaurant News!!!

I seem to have forgotton that I am so food obsessed that I do not think of anything else...But , we were so busy and devoid of decent help we couldn't get away regularly to check out the restaurant scene. I really didn't want to blog endlessly about breakfast, and shouldn't torture my readers with my dinner fixings, but now finally with the advent of the RUTHIE... I am able to report on the scene once again!

Halloween....fabulous!!!!

It took me 2 days to recover from the Halloween debacle this year, and that is even with the best help I've ever had for my favorite holiday! This years additions were the life sized skeletons from a catalog that held court over a horrifyingly decadent tablescape on the terrace. We had 2 fog machines and a symphonic cd of horror music playing from the upstairs porch. This year we offered up over 800 full sized candy bars to our loyal trick or treaters! My Mom was here and my sister and nephew who attends the Asheville school, which reminds me of Hogwarts...

Peak of the peek!

Well, the fall is in full glory! It is exceptional this year and we are so fortunate to live here and enjoy such an extended autumn season! Weather has been spectacular, and the colors are sooo vibrant.... Mom is adjusting, seems she been sick all month, I hope this passes soon! I have been over there every day, just about, to check on her. I think it's time for a pet! Something that needs her you know? We all need to be needed!I just find it so hard to go to the rescue places, I cry and wish I could take them all home you know? My brother thought a cat would be good, I am not on that page!

Color changing!

This has been an exceptionally busy month for me, I just moved the Mom to a brand new senior living here in town , quite a feat while working and managing a good volume of business. After we got her set up, we took a ride up to Mt. Pisgah for lunch and found golds and reds all over!It was a beautiful day, sunny and warm enough, even at that elevation! It was a great time to stop at the Pisgah inn as it wasn't too busy yet and the views were spectacular!Peter really enjoyed his trout, a whole grilled mountain trout and we each liked our lunches! Now we are getting ready for the big rush...

End of days?

Maybe there is a reason the Mayans ended the calendar! It sure sounds like a prophecy if you listen to the weather channel! Is it really that the weather is so bad, or is it the weather channel trying to make the ordinary newsworthy? I just had someone want to cancel for next weekend because he was sure we were going to get a hurricane and be flooded by the 8th!I kind of understand, if you watch the weather channel, it makes you believe there has never been weather like this and none will survive....but you know what they say... a little rain must fall etc.!

stars in the morning, cool air at night!

So I woke up yesterday because I was cold... This was such a change from the past few weeks that I got up and went out on the terrace to see what was going on, and lo and behold, summers hazy heat had given way to the first stir of autumn breezes! Did I mention that it was also still dark? I could see all these stars, and it was so still and pretty...

Changing Seasons!

Days are getting shorter and nights are MUCH cooler now... i can see the immediate change, my bedroom window faces east and every morning I awake to the sunrise, now it's just getting light as I awake, and as I watch with my coffee from my bed( no point in getting up too quickly is there?)a soft rosy glow begins... Yes my day begins early!
